Presenter: Aidan Flynn

My presentation would showcase the following digital teaching resource.  As the module leader for European Union Law, I have recently worked with two LLB (Hons) Law students to create a video resource.  It is an example of a digital co-creation resource, one ‘co-created’ by an academic and students. This resource will serve several purposes which include being a valuable revision aid for students, they have an unseen examination as their summative assessment.  In the video, role play is used in which I take the role of an official from the European Commission.  The two level 5 students take roles as officials representing the French government.  A discussion takes place in which several potential breaches of European Union Law are examined.  This resource is a central feature of the content in one part of the virtual learning environment site for this module.  The students involved in creation of the resource know that their engagement in the process has enhanced their preparation for the technologically-advancing legal practice.  It has exposed them to liaising with others, with varied skills and expertise, in a teamwork effort to generate the end-product.  Their participation removes some of the mystery associated with certain digital developments and the success of the digital resource leaves them feeling motivated to be enthusiastic users of the digital infrastructure in the modern legal workplace.
